Ford Designer Reimagined the Suzuki Jimny as a Futuristic EV Adventure Rig

The Suzuki Jimny is one of those rare vehicles that hasn't lost its charm with age. But after nearly eight years on the market, it’s hard not to wonder where this tiny off-roader goes next.
Ford designer Christopher Giroux decided to imagine his own answer.

Giroux has spent the past six years working at Ford Europe, and his connection to the Jimny is personal, too, as his family owned two examples of the previous generation. His concept keeps the little off-roader’s adventurous spirit but pushes it in a much more futuristic direction.

The boxy shape gives way to a more sculpted body that looks like it belongs in a sci-fi movie. Slim LED headlights, a closed grille, aggressive wheel arches, and chunky off-road tires give it a far more dramatic presence. Details like illuminated fender accents, a functional hood-mounted compass, and carved air intakes add to the concept-car feel.

Another interesting part is its modular design. The rear roof section and side windows can be removed, turning the Jimny into a compact pickup or an open-air off-roader. Giroux also imagined a camper version, complete with a custom tent that transforms the tiny SUV into a surprisingly capable mobile basecamp.

Instead of Suzuki’s familiar 1.5-liter gasoline engine, the concept adopts a fully electric powertrain, though no technical details were provided. Whether Suzuki ever builds something like this is another question entirely, but it’s an intriguing glimpse at how the Jimny’s simple, go-anywhere character could evolve in a more electrified future.
