Brabus Mercedes-AMG G63 Is A Crazy 888 HP Missile

The first time when Brabus tuned up a Mercedes-AMG G Class was back in 2018. The German tuner has shown the world its progress throughout these years by presenting the limited-edition Brabus 900 Rocket.

900 Rocket comes dressed up in Brabud Widestar’s most recent body design, with alike front and rear bumpers, extra intakes, a double bonnet-scoop, and wide fender add-ons. The looks are way more aggressive compared to 700 Widestar (2018) and 800 Widestar (2019), courtesy of some extra parts and the extensive exposure of carbon fiber.

The novelties on the exterior comprise a carbon-fiber grille, featuring the Rocket Startup Glow, a new front spoiler, a new roof spoiler, and various exhaust pipes that come out on the laterals. The presented model is finished in Stealth Gray and has red details painted across the body. However, Brabus announced that it can paint the vehicle in any color.

The 900 Rocket rides 24-inch Brabus Monoblock Z “Platinum Editions” rims. The carbon fiber Aero Discs are wearing combined performance tires: 335/25 in the back and 295/30 in the front.

The 4-liter twin-turbo V8 Mercedes-AMG engine was upgraded to 4.5 liters and received bigger turbochargers, new forged pistons, high-pressure pumps, stainless-steel exhaust system featuring a free-flow metal catalyst, an enlarged cylinder bore (84 mm), larger downpipes with active exhaust flap, longer stroke, BoostXtra valves, forged connecting rods and high-pressure pumps. All this got embellished with a Ram-Air intake system and ECU-software twerk with boost pressure control, ignition, and new mapping for injection.

All these upgrades took the engine’s power up to 888 hp (900 ps / 662 kW), with 6.200 rpm. That is 309 hp more than in G 63. The engine is supposedly producing 999 lb-ft (1.250 Nm) torque. Brabus engineers, however, limited this figure to 774 lb-ft (1.050 Nm)

The engine is coupled with an all-wheel-drive automatic 9G-TRONIC transmission, with electronically controlled locking differentials. The aluminum Brabus RideControl Coilover suspension has been lowered by up to 45 mm (1.77 inches). The brakes correspond to the beast’s power: 400 mm (15.7 inches) vented, cross-drilled steel brakes in the front and floating calipers on the rear 370 mm (14.5 inches) brakes.

900 Rocket weighs 2.560 kg but this doesn’t stop it to reach the first 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds – 0.8 seconds faster than G 63 and 0.1 seconds faster than Brabus G V12 900. The speed is limited to a top 280 km/h (174 mph).

The interior of the car is covered in black leather upholstery, featuring crest-shaped quilting. There are four individual heated and ventilated seats. The other details worth mentioning are the 4.3-inches control panel, retractable tables with heated/ventilated cup holders, carbon fiber elements, aluminum pedals, color-changing Brabus logo, and a refrigerated compartment.

Brabus will build 25 900 Rocket Edition units and promises to customize each car according to the owner’s preferences. The starting price is set at EUR 480.059 (USD 572.794), with taxes excluded. The first deliveries will happen by the end of this year.
