Adventures End: EarthCruiser Ceases Operations

Overlanding vehicle specialists, EarthCruiser of Oregon, have officially gone out of business. Thursday, April 25, will be EarthCruiser's final day of operation, according to a statement published on the company's website. In their statement, EarthCruiser said that the shutdown was due to changes in the market and economic issues.

Lance Gillies, founder and chief information officer of EarthCruiser, said, "Our journey over the past years has been extraordinary."

"We are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers, dedicated employees, and industry partners for their support and trust in our brand. Although this decision marks the end of an era, we are proud of our legacy and impact on the world of travel, automotive innovation, and overlanding. We hope our vehicles, our customers, and their stories will continue to inspire the adventurous spirit in all of us."

EarthCruiser was launched in 2008. Among their offers was the Terranova, a one-ton pickup truck based on the Ford Super Duty or Ram 3500. It the most affordable option, costing $350,000. The EarthCruiser, with a starting price of $595,000 and a four-wheel-drive Isuzu base, was available in single-cab FX or dual-cab EXP configurations.

Another option was the 2023 launch of the GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser. The conversion included a power-operated roof and a carbon-fiber camper shell, which made way for a full-size bed and standing room. The off-road electric vehicle, which already had a 605-watt solar array and a 6-kilowatt-hour battery, got a mini-kitchen and a shower. According to EarthCruiser, it can live off the grid for seven days because of its large freshwater and graywater tanks.

Unfortunately, the GMC Hummer EV EarthCruiser is clearly not going to start delivering any time soon. In an email to Motor1, an official from EarthCruiser confirmed that they manufactured and sold the single demonstration model separately.
