This 1956 Ford F-100 Has 800 HP And The Heart Of A Modern Mustang

Building a classic truck usually means bringing it back to its former glory. Fat Fender Garage had a much bigger idea for this 1956 Ford F-100. Instead of preserving its original character, the Arizona-based shop turned it into an 800-hp machine with the performance hardware of a modern sports car. The result, called GT/FX, is making its debut at SEMA 2026.
Under the hood sits a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. It delivers 800 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic gearbox. A custom Borla exhaust gives the engine a fitting soundtrack.

Making the old Ford handle all that power was a much bigger job than dropping in a new engine. Fat Fender Garage spent more than 15,000 hours on the project, building a completely new chassis and suspension setup. Performance coilovers keep the lowered truck under control, while Wilwood brakes provide six-piston calipers up front and four-piston units at the rear.
The exterior has been heavily reworked, too. Hand-built steel panels, wider wheel arches, a custom grille, and modern headlights give the F-100 a fresh appearance. It also gets HRE wheels, a Mustang GT350-inspired rear diffuser, and custom bumpers. The silver paint and black stripes are a nice reminder that this truck has racing ambitions.

The cabin is almost as far removed from the original 1956 model as the mechanical parts. It features new bucket seats, leather trim, modern climate controls, updated gauges, and a proper sound system. Although, with that supercharged V8 sitting up front, the stereo might have some competition.
Fat Fender Garage wanted to bring Ford GT attitude to an old F-100. Whether it drives like a modern supercar remains to be seen, but 800 hp makes this one of the more serious F-100 restomods around.
