Trumpchi Just Built Its Boldest SUV Yet
by AutoExpert | 13 May, 2026
There was a time when Trumpchi built the kind of cars you’d forget almost as soon as you saw them. Functional, yes, but hardly memorable.
However, the new Trumpchi Yue 7 tells a very different story.

This is GAC Trumpchi’s first true off-roader, aimed at buyers who might otherwise be looking at a Toyota Land Cruiser or Land Rover Defender. The upright proportions, chunky wheel arches, side steps, and rear-mounted spare wheel give it the kind of presence this segment demands, even if some of the inspiration feels familiar.

Images from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show a black grille, dark bumpers, and a choice of wheel designs, including beadlock-style options. Depending on the specification, the Yue 7 measures between 4,999 and 5,045 mm in length, up to 2,030 mm wide, and 1,933 mm tall, with a 2,900 mm wheelbase. That puts it in the same general size class as a Defender 110.

Every version uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 167 hp with an electric motor and either a 28.3 kWh or 45.9 kWh battery pack. The combined output hasn’t been disclosed yet, but the larger battery is expected to provide up to 177 miles of electric-only range.
For a brand that once struggled to stand out, the Yue 7 feels like a confident step into a very different part of the market.
