Rolls-Royce Builds A One-Off Phantom Inspired By Luxury Racing Yachts

Apparently, calling the Phantom a land yacht wasn't enough. Rolls-Royce decided to build one inspired by an actual racing yacht. Based on the 235.5-inch Phantom Extended, this one-off creation pays tribute to the racing yachts of England's south coast.
The nautical theme starts with the paint. Regatta Blue and English White meet along the body in a way meant to copy the line where a yacht's hull touches the water. Rolls-Royce also fitted polished 22-inch disc wheels inspired by steel yacht winches, along with plenty of bright chrome trim.

Inside, the front cabin is covered in Navy Blue leather with Grace White stitching, piping, and a two-tone steering wheel. A hand-painted artwork called “Watercolour” sits across the dashboard and was created using specially developed paints and a new blending process. Rolls-Royce says the technique alone took two weeks of testing to get right.

The rear flips the color scheme with Grace White seats and Navy Blue details. Between them sits a wood-covered center console with a chevron pattern, while the picnic tables use 16 strips of Royal Walnut mixed with thin pieces of Black Bolivar. Each table took around 120 hours to make. Above, 1,307 fiber-optic stars recreate the tidal currents around the Isle of Wight.

The Phantom Regatta will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Rolls-Royce hasn't detailed the powertrain, but it should retain the 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 with 563 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque. That's enough to reach 60 mph in 5.2 seconds and continue to 155 mph. Not bad for something that's basically a yacht without the water.
