This 911 Build Could Be Wilder Than Anything Porsche Sells

Big power 911s aren’t exactly rare right now, but SSR Performance is trying to do something a bit different. They’ve been working quietly on their own take, and it’s starting to sound like a serious piece of kit.
They call it Project Leo, and they’re not framing it as just another tuned 911. According to SSR, this is a full “clean-sheet” development. In other words, not just bolt-ons and a remap, but something reworked from the ground up.

It’s believed to start with a GT3 RS, but what’s underneath is where things get interesting. The flat-six is said to be running twin turbochargers, which already sets it apart from the naturally aspirated GT3 RS. Spy shots back that up too, with test cars sounding noticeably more muted around the Nürburgring.
Less noise, more punch. And there should be a lot of punch. Early reports suggest over 800 hp, which would push it well beyond anything Porsche currently offers.
SSR is also aiming high with performance targets. They’ve hinted at a sub-7-minute Nürburgring lap, which puts it straight into serious territory.
Visually, you still get that aggressive GT3 RS-style wing and familiar aero elements, plus some touches that feel similar to Manthey Racing setups. It looks like a GT3 RS that has been sharpened even further.
One thing they really highlight is what’s missing. No hybrid system, no particulate filters. Just a turbo flat-six, breathing the way it should.
That might be what sets it apart. If Porsche goes hybrid with the next GT2 RS, it’ll likely be quicker but also more controlled. Project Leo leans the other way. More raw, less filtered. So even if it’s not factory-made, it could hit the spot for people who still want that old-school feel.
