New Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV Is Coming, But The US Won’t Get It
by AutoExpert | 21 October, 2026
Honda may have pulled the plug on its planned 0 Series electric sedan and SUV for the US, but one EV is still in the game. Meet the Honda 0 Alpha, a funky new electric SUV that’s almost ready for its big debut. There’s just one catch: American buyers are out of luck. Honda is mainly targeting India and Japan, with the official reveal set for December 2.
The 0 Alpha first showed up as a concept in October 2025. Since then, test cars have been spotted roaming the roads in India and Japan.

The design has got plenty going on. Sharp LED lights, chunky bumpers, beefy wheel arches, and a boxy rear give it a proper futuristic vibe. Weird? Maybe.

The cabin looks just as modern, with a big infotainment screen, a digital driver display, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Besides, the company says the SUV is being built with Indian drivers in mind, which means it needs to handle rough roads and brutal weather. After all, a flashy EV is no good if every pothole feels like a boss fight.

Under the skin, the Honda 0 Alpha gets a dedicated EV platform. The carmaker hasn’t spilled all the beans yet, but reports point to front-wheel drive, a single electric motor, and two LFP battery options. The bigger battery could deliver up to 500 km (311 miles) on a charge. Production will take place in Rajasthan, India, with exports to Japan and other markets planned later. So this little SUV could end up travelling quite a bit.

The price could land between ₹16 lakh and ₹25 lakh, or roughly $16,900 to $26,400, according to Indian media. That would put it up against electric SUVs from Tata, Suzuki, Toyota, Mahindra, and Hyundai. Honda will need more than funky styling to beat that crowd, though. The specs, range, and price will all have to hit the sweet spot.
