Gordon Murray’s New V12 Monster Finally Hits The Track

Gordon Murray's Le Mans GTR has finally left the show stand and found a race track. Its first public run took place at Le Mans Classic, which feels like the right place for a car carrying that name.
Finished in a deep green, the Le Mans GTR was driven by GMA test driver Dario Franchitti. It shared the track with a T.50s Niki Lauda and a Sentinel Red T.33 prototype. Gordon Murray's past was well represented too, with McLaren F1 GTR race cars, the Duckhams LM Ford, and several classic Brabham Formula 1 cars also appearing at the event.

Under the skin, the Le Mans GTR borrows plenty from the T.50 and T.50s. Its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter Cosworth V12 produces 654 hp and sends power to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. No hybrid assistance and no electric motors here. Just a V12, three pedals, and a lot of expensive carbon fiber.

Gordon Murray Le Mans GTR goes its own way visually. It skips the T.50's rear fan and doesn't chase the McLaren F1 look of the S1 LM. Instead, it gets stacked headlights, big intakes, a carbon splitter, a fixed rear wing, and a huge diffuser. It looks far more at home on a race track.

Only 24 will be made, and GMA is keeping the price quiet. Safe to say, it won't be cheap.
