Caterham Built a Nürburgring Special for Drivers Who Actually Love Driving

Few cars feel as closely connected to driving in its purest form as the Caterham Seven. Light, simple, and brutally honest, it has always been more about the experience than the numbers.
So it feels fitting that Caterham has created a special edition to honor one of the world’s most demanding circuits.

Called the Seven Nürburgring Edition, the new model arrives just ahead of this year’s 24-hour race and will be limited to 100 units. Buyers can choose between the Seven 340R and the more powerful 420R, both equipped with a bespoke Bilstein suspension setup developed specifically for the Nordschleife but still suitable for road use. The car also gets Nürburgring graphics, a red grille, and a bright red roll bar, with paint choices including Traffic Red, Agate Grey, and Basalt Grey.

Inside, the changes are subtle but purposeful. Leather seats feature Nürburgring embroidery and red stitching, while four-point harnesses, sequential shift lights, and carbon-fiber trim reinforce the track-focused atmosphere.

Power comes from Caterham’s familiar 2.0-liter Ford Duratec four-cylinder, producing 210 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. In a car that weighs just 1,234 lbs, that’s enough for 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 136 mph. Pricing starts at £48,995.

The tribute also carries genuine history behind it. Back in 2002, a Caterham competed in the Nürburgring 24 Hours with Chris Harris among the drivers. It won its class by more than 10 laps and finished an impressive 11th overall. For a car like the Seven, there may be no better place to celebrate than the Green Hell itself.
