The Family Behind Alpina Is Back With a 790-HP Super Wagon

The Bovensiepen name may be new to most people, but the family behind it spent decades building Alpina into one of BMW’s most respected performance brands. Now, a few years after BMW took full control of Alpina, the Bovensiepens are back with something that feels very familiar in spirit.
Called the 05 GT, it starts life as a BMW 5-Series Touring before receiving a comprehensive makeover.

Outside, the upgrades include fresh front-end styling, custom side skirts, a roof spoiler, quad exhausts, and a set of 21-inch forged alloys. It looks like a 5-Series that's spent a lot more time in the gym.

The biggest transformation happens under the hood. The 05 GT uses the same plug-in hybrid 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 found in the M5 Touring, but Bovensiepen has pushed output from 718 hp to 790 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. Despite weighing 5,632 lbs, it can reach 62 mph in under 3.6 seconds and continue to a top speed of 190 mph. Suspension upgrades, including Eibach springs and revised chassis components, help match the extra performance.

Inside, the focus shifts from speed to comfort. The cabin is trimmed in Lavalina leather sourced from selected farms across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, while buyers can choose from a wide range of colors and finishes. It’s the kind of interior designed for long journeys rather than quick laps around a racetrack.

Bovensiepen will begin deliveries in the fourth quarter of this year, with prices starting at €198,900 ($230,700). It's a lot of money, but this was never meant to be a regular performance wagon. The whole point is offering something you can't get from BMW itself.
