Buick’s $25K Electric Sedan Has Features Luxury Cars Charge Extra For

Big horsepower numbers usually grab the headlines, yet Buick's newest electric sedan seems more interested in making daily driving feel effortless. The fully electric Electra L7 has officially gone on sale in China, bringing up to 378 hp, plenty of technology, and a surprisingly accessible starting price of ¥169,900 ($25,170).

Every version uses the same rear-mounted electric motor producing 378 hp and 282 lb-ft of torque, enough for a 0-62 mph sprint in 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 137 mph.

An 80.6-kWh CATL battery delivers up to 436 miles of CLTC range, while the new 6C charging system can add as much as 280 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The battery also supports vehicle-to-load functionality, letting owners power everything from camping gear to household appliances.

If you've seen the range-extended Electra L7, this one won't come as a surprise. The styling stays largely unchanged, with Stardust Green and Cherry Blossom Pink joining the color palette. Inside, even the entry-level model feels generously equipped, offering a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 15.6-inch infotainment display, a 25-speaker sound system, heated, ventilated, and massaging leather seats, plus tri-zone climate control and wireless phone charging.

Moving up the range adds features such as an augmented reality head-up display, a digital rearview mirror, facial recognition, an air fragrance system, and Buick's Xiao Yao Zhi Xing driving assistance suite with LiDAR, multiple radars, cameras, and autonomous parking capabilities. At the top of the lineup, the Avenir adds Nappa leather, self-closing doors, turbine-style wheels, and a 27-speaker premium audio system.

Features like LiDAR, massaging seats, and a 27-speaker audio system aren't usually associated with a $25,000 sedan. In China, they're becoming increasingly common.
