$546K Rolls-Royce Spectre Called a Lemon in New Texas Lawsuit
by AutoExpert | 6 February, 2026
Buying a Rolls-Royce is supposed to be the end of your car worries. According to a new lawsuit out of Texas, that wasn’t the case for one Spectre owner.
Marci M. Donovitz says she paid just over $546,000 for a bespoke 2025 Rolls-Royce Spectre Black Badge, taking delivery in late June 2025. By October, barely four months in, the ultra-luxury EV reportedly suffered a major battery-related failure that left it nearly undrivable.

She sent the car back to the authorized dealer, expecting a quick fix. Instead, she was told the necessary parts were on backorder, with no clear timeline. Weeks passed. Nothing happened. After more than 40 days without progress, Donovitz asked Rolls-Royce to buy the car back and refund her money. The answer was no.
As of February, the lawsuit claims the Spectre is still sitting at the dealership, unrepaired and quietly losing value. The filing doesn’t mince words, calling the car a “lemon” and alleging the battery defect makes it unsafe to drive.

The lawsuit also says Rolls-Royce and the dealer didn’t fix the problem in a timely way. Even more concerning, it claims the company knew about reliability issues and weaker resale values for the Spectre but didn’t tell the buyer.
Donovitz is now asking for a full buyback or cancellation of the sale, plus compensation for loss of use, lost value, and legal fees.
