Honda Just Made the Prelude Impossible to Ignore

Honda is giving the Prelude a fresh dose of personality for 2027 with a new Limited Edition model. There are no changes to the powertrain or chassis, but the special version stands out thanks to a bold new color combination that makes the coupe look far more dramatic than the standard car.
The star of the show is a new Premium Crystal Garnet Metallic paint finish, a deep red shade never before offered on the Prelude. Then, the grille is finished in matching red, while the usual blue bumper accents have been replaced with red details. Combined with the black 19-inch alloy wheels and red Brembo brake calipers, the result is easily one of the most eye-catching Prelude variants yet.

The cabin follows the same theme. Bordeaux-colored inserts stretch across the seats, dashboard, and center console, paired with black leather upholstery and matching contrast stitching. Small touches help set it apart too, including a red Prelude logo embroidered into the passenger side of the dashboard instead of the standard white version.

Under the skin, the story is much the same. The Prelude continues to use Honda's hybrid powertrain, pairing a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors for a combined output of 200 hp. Power is sent to the front wheels, while the S+Shift system simulates gear changes and engine sounds to add a little more character to the driving experience.

The 2027 Prelude Limited Edition is already available to order in Japan and will reach dealerships on August 20. Pricing starts at ¥6,306,300 ($39,300), or about ¥126,500 ($800) more than a standard Prelude.
