The Corvette Grand Sport Is Back… and Now There’s a 721-HP Hybrid Version
by AutoExpert | 27 March, 2026
The Corvette Grand Sport returns for 2027, and this time it sits at the center of the lineup. Alongside it comes a new Grand Sport X and a fresh V8 that will spread across the range.
The big change is under the hood. GM introduces a new 6.7-liter naturally aspirated V8, called the LS6. It makes 535 hp and 520 lb-ft of torque, which makes it the most torque-heavy NA V8 ever fitted to a factory Corvette. This engine also moves into the 2027 Stingray, so it becomes the core of the lineup.

The setup stays familiar. Power goes to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual clutch. The standard Grand Sport keeps rear-wheel drive, with Magnetic Ride Control as standard and options for stiffer suspension, Cup 2R tires, carbon-ceramic brakes, and added aero.
The car itself sits wider, similar to the Z06. That gives it a more planted stance and better grip.

Then there is the Grand Sport X. This is where things shift. It adds an electric motor at the front axle, producing 186 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque. The combined output jumps to 721 hp, with all-wheel drive and instant front axle torque.

The system also brings a few extra modes. It can run on electric power alone at low speeds, and there is a Stealth mode that lets it move quietly up to 50 mph. Shuttle mode drops that further to 23 mph for tighter control. Carbon ceramic brakes come standard here.

On the design side, Chevrolet leans into Grand Sport history. We get classic hash marks, heritage colors, and new wheel options. Admiral Blue returns, and Launch Edition models add a Santorini Blue interior with red accents. The hash marks also move to the rear fenders, which changes a long-standing detail.

This badge matters for Chevrolet. The Stingray and Grand Sport are expected to carry most of the sales, which makes this new LS6 engine the backbone of the range.

Production starts this summer in Bowling Green. The 2027 Corvette Grand Sport X follows later in the year, with pricing expected to go beyond the outgoing E-Ray, which started at $108,600 before fees.
