Dodge’s Hellcat V8 Charger Is Reportedly Coming Back
by AutoExpert | 28 May, 2026
Dodge fans have spent the last few years asking the company for one thing above all else: bring back the HEMI V8. It now looks like Stellantis is finally listening.
During a recent private preview event for U.S. media, Stellantis reportedly showed an upcoming Dodge Charger powered by a supercharged Hellcat V8. According to those who saw it, the car featured an aggressive new front end, a large hood scoop, SRT badging, and a sizeable rear wing. More importantly, the engine under the hood was said to produce more than 700 hp.

That is significant because the new-generation Charger launched first as an EV, something many longtime Dodge fans never fully embraced. The gas-powered Charger Sixpack later improved things with its twin-turbo inline-six, but for many buyers, it still lacked the raw character of a supercharged HEMI.
Exact numbers have not been confirmed yet, but there is speculation Dodge could use the 777-hp version of the Hellcat V8 already seen in certain Ram models. Even the lower-output 710-hp tune from the Durango Hellcat would still make the Charger one of the wildest muscle cars on sale.

Interestingly, reports suggest this Hellcat Charger is separate from the mysterious SRT Copperhead teased during Stellantis Investor Day 2026. That car reportedly features a more extreme two-door body and what also appears to be gasoline power.
After years of EV-heavy messaging, Dodge suddenly leaning back into loud V8 performance feels less surprising than it probably should. Deep down, everyone knew the HEMI was never really gone for good.
