Xpeng has unveiled two striking concepts, injecting a futuristic touch into the world of flying cars. While detailed specifications are limited for this innovative prototype, the company is actively exploring secure storage solutions. Revealed during Xpeng Tech Day, the flying car concept may initially resemble a sleek supercar.

However, its uniquely elongated rear end serves an essential purpose when it seamlessly transitions into its flying mode. From the vehicle's rear, four arms extend, each housing eight propellers that lift the car into the air at the push of a button.

The concept also integrates a retractable steering wheel, allowing the driver easier access to a joystick during flight. Xpeng AeroHT anticipates its initial flying car to weigh in at around 2,204 lbs, with prices starting at 1 million Yuan ($136,666 USD). Xpeng aims to introduce its first flying car in 2024.

Xpeng

Xpeng is also exploring an alternative flying vehicle concept known as the Modular Flying Car. Rather than creating an eVTOL that doubles as a car, the company is working on a smaller version designed to fit inside a van. This van, referred to as the mothership, can accommodate up to five passengers and is equipped with three axles, all driven by electric motors.

Xpeng

It functions as an extended-range electric vehicle, featuring an internal combustion engine to generate power for both its needs and those of the eVTOL. The flying portion of the vehicle has a capacity for up to two passengers and can be either human- or autonomously-piloted. It offers a 270-degree field of view from the cockpit, offering splendid views and excellent visibility.

Xpeng

The timeline for when these vehicles or their subsequent developments will become available to the public remains uncertain. However, Xpeng is actively collaborating with civil authorities in China and the United States to ensure the safe deployment of these innovative technologies.
