Viritech Will Supply Hydrogen Fuel Cell Powertrain For BAC Mono

Automakers like Toyota and Hyundai invest substantially in hydrogen and battery electric cars, but this piece of innovation is normally out of reach for smaller firms. However, Briggs Automotive Company (BAC), the creator of the Mono single-seater is exempt from this rule.
They just announced a partnership with Viritech to develop an FCEV version of their track-oriented vehicle. The objective for BAC, located in the United Kingdom, is to shift to zero emissions by 2030 when the ICE prohibition in their home market forces them to abandon their existing offers.
As a result, they partnered with Viritech, a UK-based firm developing hydrogen powertrain solutions for the automotive, aerospace, marine, and distributed power sector. The Office for Zero-Emission Vehicles (OZEV) will fund the joint project, which is characterized as a feasibility study into creating a hydrogen powertrain for niche vehicle applications, through the Niche Vehicle Network, with backing from Innovate UK.
This new BAC Mono FCEV will use hydrogen fuel cells to power its electric motors, rather than the Ford-sourced Ecoboost petrol engine now in use. The hydrogen-powered Mono's teaser photographs display a similar style with a distinctive wrap that emphasizes the shift under the skin. We don't know when the BAC Mono FCEV will be revealed, but we expect to see it in concept form before it hits the market in 2030.
