Toyota RAV4 Dark Side Concept Brings Cyberpunk Vibes To Tokyo Auto Salon

The Toyota RAV4 has had a bit of a rough patch lately, with sales dipping for four straight months in October. But Toyota might be looking to shake things up with a bold new concept debuting at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. They’re calling it the RAV4 Dark Side, and it’s anything but ordinary.

Toyota describes the Dark Side as a “mysterious and futuristic” take on the RAV4—something straight out of a sci-fi movie, anime, or video game. It’s a dramatic shift from the RAV4’s usual outdoorsy vibe, instead leaning into an edgier, almost cyberpunk-inspired look.

Massive fender flares give it a wide, aggressive stance, and angular air intakes up front give it a look straight out of Toyota's performance-focused GR lineup. The Dark Side enhances its futuristic appeal by replacing the traditional grille with a sleek, closed-off front end that showcases unique lighting elements.

For now, the Dark Side is strictly a concept, and Toyota hasn’t hinted at whether it might inspire a production model. Still, it’s a bold new look that could help reignite excitement for the RAV4—and maybe even hint at what Toyota has in store for future designs.
