The Toyota Crown's 15th generation debuted in 2018 and was revised in 2020. Now, in an effort to entice potential consumers, the Japanese manufacturer has revealed two special editions that will be available only in Japan.

The first is the RS “Limited II,” which is based on the RS but features darker exterior tones (either Precious Black Pearl or Precious Metal) and distinctive matte black 18-inch wheels with 225/45 R18 tires. The LED headlights and taillights are tinted, while the grille inserts and fog light surrounds are coated in jet black.

Black leather upholstery with contrasting stitching, ventilated seats, and stunning gun-metal elements on the dashboard and center console can be spotted on the inside.

The S “Elegance Style III,” which is based on the S trim level, is the second special edition. The exterior (in Pure White Pearl or Silver Metallic) and the interior (with brown leather upholstery and wood-style accents) are highlighted by multispoke 18-inch wheels painted in chrome metallic.

The 2.5 Hybrid powertrain is standard on both variants, generating 222-hp (226 PS) and 221 Nm (163 lb-ft) of torque. A CVT gearbox sends power to either the rear or all four wheels.

The RS “Limited II” and the S “Elegance Style III” with rear-wheel drive start at 5,230,000 yen ($47,000) and 5,290,000 yen ($47,638), accordingly, while the AWD variants cost 5,670,000 yen ($51,000) and 5,510,000 yen ($49,620).

The Crown's sales have slowed recently, and its future seems bleak. Toyota was said to be considering replacing it with an SUV last year, although this is only speculation at this time.
