Toyota GR Yaris H2 Is A Sporty Hatch That Runs On Hydrogen

Toyota GR Yaris H2 is a hydrogen-powered concept vehicle of the brand's popular four-wheel-drive sporty hatch. It debuted at Toyota's annual Kenshiki forum where the Japanese automaker reaffirmed its commitment to hydrogen powertrain advancement.
The carmaker has been experimenting with hydrogen-combustion tech in Japan's Super Taikyu racing series for several months, utilizing a minimally altered Corolla touring vehicle powered by a hydrogen-fueled version of the GR Yaris' 1.6-liter turbo three-pot.
Toyota's Europe CEO Matt Harrison stated that using this technology will allow the company to provide nearly zero tailpipe emissions without electrification, but it does so while keeping the characteristics that fans love most about cars: the speed and the roar.
Toyota GR Yaris H2 shares the same engine as the Corolla racer, with minor tweaks, and employs the same refueling system as the brand's Mirai production vehicle. The slight mechanical changes consist of a stronger block, new valve seats, and an enhanced injection system. The specifics of the performance remain unknown.
Although Toyota has not guaranteed the GR Yaris H2's manufacturing potential, Harrison believes that zero-emission vehicles shouldn't be a distant future.
