This Genesis X Gran Equator Concept Looks Like A Rugged Spaceship

The New York Auto Show is in full swing, and Genesis just showed off something pretty wild: meet the X Gran Equator Concept. This Genesis X Gran Equator concept is the latest take on Genesis' “Athletic Elegance” design, but this time with an off-roading twist.
It sits high on massive 24-inch beadlock wheels wrapped in chunky all-terrain tires, with plenty of ground clearance to match. The front end is short, the hood’s long, and the windshield is narrow, giving the whole thing a kind of rugged spaceship vibe. There’s no front grille, which confirms it’s fully electric.

The lighting is super clean: just two sharp lines front and back that flow into the body. There are extra LEDs in the bumper for nighttime driving, and the rear has a sleek look with a split tailgate. Meanwhile, the plastic cladding around the fenders and bumpers keeps it looking tough.

Step inside, and things get even more interesting. There’s no typical touchscreen. Instead, you get four round digital displays in the center that look like old-school analog dials. The driver gets a separate three-gauge digital cluster that sticks with the same retro theme.

There’s a heavy focus on physical controls here—toggle switches, big buttons on the wheel, and oversized stalks. The Genesis X Gran Equator SUV has four seats, and the front ones can swivel. There are multiple sunroofs and modular storage spaces, plus fancy materials with bold color choices and cool stitching details that make everything feel highly customized.

Genesis hasn’t shared any performance specs yet, but they say it’s built to handle tough conditions while still feeling refined. Will it actually go into production? That’s still unclear. However, Genesis says some of the design cues will likely show up on future models.
