The Toyota FT-1 Concept, a possible source of inspiration for the upcoming Toyota Supra, is coming back on the stage in a new color

After seeing a red version of the Toyota FT-1 concept last winter, the Japanese refresh the memory of the brand's fans with a silver version. Insisting on this subject may be considered a sign that the series model is being prepared.

Toyota was surprising its fans in January by presenting a concept that was immediately associated by the public with a possible rebirth of Supra, one of the most representative models that the Japanese brand has ever manufactured. It was called Toyota FT1 and the speculations continued in the days following the presentations, with the official photos of the prototype.

Well, the possibility that Toyota developed a series model inspired by that concept is becoming a probability today, that is because the japans have made some photos of the second FT-1 concept version. Being dyed in graffiti-silver, the concept doesn't evolve at the designer lines, preserving the initial version's aggressiveness untouched. "The simple apparition of the new shade may change your perception, may change the value of the concept. I am still fascinated by this aspect. The exterior shade change in a car in order to generate a new answer on behalf of the public is not completely news, but it is very interesting to watch the way you can change your perception on a product because of simple color,", says Kevin Hunter, the director of the Calty Design Center, which Toyota opened in the USA in 1973.

2002 is, essentially, the last year that Toyota Supra was part of the Japanese producer's offer. The model was launched in 1978.

Although the apparition of a concept which, besides the exterior color, doesn't come with any changes may look forced, the Calty officials believe that this is the best solution in order to offer a new air to their prototype. "We had very little time in order to figure out what was the easiest way to change things without messing with the original. Fortunately, we found this solution and concluded that simply modifying the exterior color is the best solution", says Sellenne Lee, one of Calty's designers.
