The Scion XD86D Four-Door Concept Is Probably New To You

The Scion X86D shooting brake concept is an intriguing but little-known concept. What is known is that Toyota's Calty Design Studio produced it in California in 2012.

This concept is based on the Scion FR-S and has a unique four-door shooting brake style instead of the usual two-door coupe look. The front of the car has curved lines that look a bit like the Toyota Yaris, and the headlights have a triangular shape.

The overall design is futuristic, with a long hood and cool details like body-colored intakes. The side view shows off its low bonnet, and the black part above the side skirts makes the car look lighter. The wheels look just right for a regular car. The car seems low, but it's practical with its flatter roofline, four doors, and rear hatch.

Even though the windows are tinted, Toyota shared pictures of the inside. The steering wheel looks like it's from a Camry, but the rest of the cabin is futuristic. There's a floating center console leading to a small touchscreen and another display on the dashboard.

The buttons and vents have cool shapes, similar to Lamborghini, and there are lime yellow highlights for a youthful touch. Unfortunately, we can't see the back seats, but they should be better than the ones in the old Scion coupe.

This Scion X86D concept didn't make it to production, like many early designs. Toyota later showed another concept, the GT86 Shooting Brake, but that also didn't become a real car. The decision to make different versions of Toyota and Subaru sports cars depends on what people want and what makes sense for the car market today.
