Tata Motors came out swinging at Auto Expo 2025 with the Avinya X concept, a sneak peek at their premium Avinya lineup. Built on Jaguar Land Rover’s fancy Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), the Avinya series is all about cutting-edge tech.

Thanks to Tata owning JLR, they’ve got access to premium EV components like batteries, motors, and manufacturing know-how. Of course, there’s a catch. They’re paying a royalty fee for the tech, but it’s a small price for staying ahead in the EV game.

The Avinya X ditches the old-school grille and goes for a smooth, body-colored panel up front. The width is spanned by a slim LED light bar, giving it a futuristic look. Meanwhile, the entire top half of the concept, including the hood, roof, and pillars, is clad in gloss black.

From the side, it’s all about sharp details like black-and-silver wheels, sleek side skirts, and hidden handles for the rear doors. Chunky C-pillars and a tapered rear window give it that Range Rover Velar vibe. Inside, it’s as premium as it gets: a massive touchscreen, a slim digital gauge cluster, colorful ambient lighting, and soft leather everywhere.

When the Tata Avinya X enters production, it will introduce advanced technology such as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging. On a full charge, this electric SUV is expected to go 300+ miles (480 km)—plenty for road trips or city cruising.

But wait, there’s more! Tata also revealed the Sierra ICE concept, giving SUV lovers a rugged, combustion-powered option. While an electric Sierra is already in the pipeline, this gas-and-diesel version has its own charm. Under the hood, the Sierra ICE will pack a 2.0-liter diesel with 170 hp and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque or a 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine making 170 hp and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm).

The Sierra keeps it tough and timeless—boxy shape, short overhangs, and slick LED lights front and back. Tata says the ICE Sierra will roll into showrooms in the second half of 2025, so mark your calendars. With the Avinya X leading the chrge and the Sierra ICE catering to traditionalists, Tata’s cooking up something for everyone!
