Ocean-X Concept From BYD Might Be A High-Performance EV

In China, BYD has unveiled its new Ocean-X concept. This concept has a curved front end with thin headlamps and is billed as a high-performance mid-sized electric car. A frowning lower highlight and sharp air curtains may be seen further down. Moving backward, the concept has sophisticated wheels and dynamic bodywork with a deep focus.

A sporty greenhouse and a drag coefficient of 0.21 are additional features of the Ocean-X concept. BYD was tight-lipped about specifics but said the concept is based on the new e-platform 3.0, which would ultimately underlie a variety of cars and “facilitate the development of intelligent EVs throughout the world,” according to the company. 

Increased stiffness, ultra-safe blade batteries, and the "world's first 8-in-1 electric motor" are among the attributes of the Ocean-X concept. Although there isn't much information, the business claims the platform will have a range of more than 620 miles (1,000 km). It also has ultra-fast 800V charging capabilities, which can get you up to 93 miles (150 km) of range in only five minutes.

Even more intriguing, Ocean-X concept suggests a high-performance all-wheel-drive system. The firm stated the technology enables for 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) speeds of 2.9 seconds while using the same energy as two-wheel drive vehicles. If this proves to be the case, it will be a significant achievement, given many high-performance EVs have shorter ranges than their most popular counterparts.
