New Holland And Pininfarina Teamed Up To Create A Winemaker-Specific Tractor

New Holland and Pininfarina are working together on a tractor to overcome the problem of vineyards being too narrow for standard tractors. The Straddle Tractor Concept was created particularly for wine-growing areas where high-quality grapes are cultivated, such as Champagne, Medoc, and Burgundy.
It will function in situations where vine rows are less than half a meter (1.6 feet) apart on steep slopes. Grapes planted in these places are often harvested by hand, while the majority of vine upkeep is performed by a tractor that passes over the rows. But, according to New Holland's "Clean Energy Leader" policy, Pininfarina created a futuristic tractor with a focus on high comfort, high safety, and the option of electric propulsion.
As a nod to the region it wants to serve, the tractor is intended to resemble a champagne flute. Happily, because of the amount of glass, the design also provides plenty of vision for the operator. Furthermore, simple access and exit are provided by a rotating seat and a big door. The cabin's wood trim adds a luxury touch and is a nod to the oak barrels used to mature wine.
The concept, which was shown at the SITEVI 2021 wine, olive, and fruit agricultural exhibition, is one of the potential avenues New Holland is hoping to go.
