Mitsubishi's DST Concept Unveiled With Gravitas, Dynamism, And Space For Seven

Mitsubishi just pulled the wraps off the DST, a sleek, three-row concept, at the Philippine International Motor Show. Mitsubishi is positioning this newcomer as its latest attempt to broaden its SUV lineup in the ASEAN market, with the production model expected to debut by 2025.

Positioned alongside models like the Xforce, Pajero Sport, and Xpander Cross, the DST won’t be replacing any existing model. Instead, it aims to carve out its own niche—although time will tell if it can win a slice of the already-crowded SUV segment.

Design-wise, the DST carries Mitsubishi’s “Gravitas & Dynamism” theme, with a strong, boxy build in line with Mitsubishi’s well-known “Dynamic Shield” language. Its large, honeycomb-patterned grille sits under a tinted cover to improve aerodynamics, flanked by chrome accents and bold T-shaped LED headlights. Chunky fenders and skid plates add rugged flair, while futuristic touches like camera-based side mirrors, missing door handles, and a sleek wraparound window design bring a bit of concept flash.

Inside, Mitsubishi has aimed for a higher-end feel, incorporating soft-touch materials, a fully digital cockpit, and a new two-spoke steering wheel. The cabin boasts thoughtful details such as integrated tables on the front seats and climate control for second-row passengers. With the third-row seating taking up much of the cargo space, however, it’s clear that the seven-seat setup favors passengers over luggage.

While Mitsubishi hasn’t shared specifics on the powertrain, they did mention that the DST uses a stretched version of the Xforce’s unibody platform. For reference, the smaller Xforce runs on a 1.5-liter engine delivering 103 hp, but given the DST’s larger size, a more powerful engine seems likely.

Confirmed as a front-wheel-drive model, the Mitsubishi DST Concept boasts five drive modes—Normal, Tarmac, Gravel, Mud, and Wet—and generous ground clearance to tackle all weather conditions. More details are expected soon!
