MINI Vision Urbanaut Goes From Digital To Real

Some carmakers launch concepts for the first time. Other carmakers launch the same concept more than once. Like this MINI Vision Urbanaut, for example. You’ve seen it once, now you’ve seen it twice.

There’s one difference though. Last year, in November, MINI showed this concept as an exclusively digital project. Now we get to see it in real life, debuting on July 1st, at DLD Summer.

There is obviously not much difference between the digital and the real-life concepts. MINI Vision Urbanaut is a futuristic van with minimalist fascias, illuminated wheels, an expansive glass roof, and one sliding door. 

The interior of MINI Vision Urbanaut is all about wise space usage. It doesn’t really look like a normal car cabin, reminding more of a hipster lounge. The driver’s seat is swiveling, while the front passenger seat has a minimalist design, to put it mildly. The dashboard can be lowered and turned into a daybed. Nice one!

That’s not all. The designers have gone even further and added a small table, a planter, and a sectional-looking rear seat. The upholstery is directly hinting at what the future holds: no leather, no chrome, just plain happy recyclable and renewable materials: Tencel, polyester, and recycled wool.

The MINI-moments are present on MINI Vision Urbanaut as well, with Chill, Vibe, and Wanderlust features, coming with individual ambient lighting, sound, and even fragrance.
