MG Cyberster Electric Roadster Concept Looks Pretty Impressive In The Flesh

MG  has a surprise for its racer fans - a new two-seater sports car concept and again is inspired from the classic MGB Roadster but is adapted to today's all-electric architecture vehicles. A set of real-life images of its new Cyberster concept was released ahead of its public debut at the Shanghai Auto Show.

“Cyberster is a hugely exciting concept for us.” Carl Gotham, Director of SAIC Design Advanced London, referred to the sports car as "a bold statement that looks strongly into MG’s future, touching on our heritage but more importantly building on our technology and advanced design".

The SAIC-owned MG  car company promises that the battery will give an average range of around 500 miles (800 km) on a full charge. Also, being a sports car concept you still get to reach 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in less than 3 seconds. More information about the horsepower or battery specifications will be revealed later.

These new Cyberster concept photos clearly show the front end featuring the classically shaped MG grille, serving as an air duct to ensure airflow over the vehicle’s chassis and the beloved ‘Magic Eye’ headlights open when switched on. For the bodywork, there are LED strips running down its sides along with a ’Kamm tail’ flat rear end with a distinctive LED light signature to echo MG’s British heritage.

The interior will be purely driver-centric, with a visible cockpit separation between the driver and passenger, and comes with a large digital instrument cluster and a second central screen. The electric Cyberster will feature 5G connectivity, ‘zero gravity' seats with floating head restraints, door panels, and red leather handles that “reflect the ‘laser belt’ that runs down the car’s exterior”.

MG will reveal more information besides horsepower or battery specifications for the Cyberster concept after its official public debut at the Shanghai Auto Show on April 21.
