MG Cyber GTS Concept Is A Tribute To The Past, A Leap To The Future

MG's Cyber GTS Concept will premiere unexpectedly at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2024. The MG Cyber GTS Concept shares much of its front end, bumpers, and lighting elements with the MG Cyberster. However, what distinguishes it from the roadster is its permanent roof rather than its retractable cloth top.

There has yet to be any public announcement on the interior design. Specifically, the concept is more than just a design study because of its potential to develop into a production model.

MG's Cyber GTS Concept, which follows the 2023 launch of the Cyberster roadster, "explores the further potential for MG to forge a new future with a GTS model in the EV era," according to the automaker. Aside from stating that it has a rear-wheel-drive layout and an electric motor, MG has yet to reveal any technical specifics about their new concept. Because of its close relationship with the MG Cyberster, the two models may share specs.

A battery pack with 77 kWh of capacity powers both configurations, and an all-wheel-drive variant with two electric motors produces 536 horsepower, which is a significant increase over the most potent rear-wheel-drive roadster's 335 horsepower. While paying tribute to the iconic MGB and MGC GT versions of the 1960s, this new concept seems ready to compete with the forthcoming Porsche 718 Cayman EV.

The Cyber GTS Concept is based on the MGC GTS Sebring racer, MG's most outstanding performance at the 1968 12 Hours of Sebring, finishing third in the prototype category and tenth overall, according to the company.

This incredibly streamlined MG Cyber GTS Concept plans to break the 0-62 mph sprint in a little over 1.9 seconds. Its aerodynamic coefficient is an astounding 0.181 cd.
