McLaren SUV: Imagining the Future with Designer Sergiy Dvornytskyy

For many years, McLaren firmly declined the possibility of introducing an SUV or a crossover. However, in the past 18 months, and under the industry veteran’s Michel Leiter's lead – McLaren’s resistance towards SUVs started to fade.

In fact, Leiters confessed his open mindset regarding a McLaren SUV, although he added that such a vehicle won’t make it to the market until 2028.

If the English brand finally decides to follow the path chosen by Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Aston Martin, what would their SUV look like? Well, the designer Sergiy Dvornytskyy could imagine such a vehicle, and the thought looks so realistic that one could think it’s straight out of McLaren’s design department.

McLaren SUV

This is not the first time we meet Dvornytskyy, and certainly not its first attempt at creating a good-looking SUV, because he did the exact same thing at the end of the past year with a SUV quad-turbo W12 for Bugatti. He refers to his last project as Activa and clearly draws inspiration from the existing McLaren models, especially the 750S.

The perfect way to describe its front end is – elegant and clean. It features a black splitter, a tailor-made grille, and a simple pair of LED headlights that resemble the already famous McLaren shape. Activa was also pictured in orange paint with a roof and shiny black pillar – adding to its sporty appeal and elegant shape.

Dvornytskyy said that he imagines an Activa powered by the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as the 750S, although situated at the front – explaining the elongated hood.

Similarly, the flowing lines of the 750S are also visible along the SUV’s side, as are the door handles located at the same level as the body, large wheels with black and silver spokes, and black arches. In the back, an elegant LED band serves both – as taillights and a light bar, adding to the modern look.

Now what do you think about the McLaren design study by Dvornystkyy?
