Italdesign has pulled the curtains off its first bespoke electric vehicle (EV), christened Asso di Picche in Movimento, in a grand nod to the 50th anniversary of the Audi Asso di Picche Concept.

Crafted by the visionary founder, Giorgetto Giugiaro, this new EV encapsulates a modern-day reflection of the 1973 classic, now molded by the tenets of safety and electrification.

Asso di Picche

Drawing a parallel in profile to the original Audi 80, this futuristic two-door coupe is a testament to aerodynamic finesse, flaunting new alloy wheel designs, a seamlessly streamlined one-piece glass roof blending into an active spoiler at the rear, and opting for cameras in lieu of traditional door mirrors.

The roof doesn't just stand as a design marvel but serves a functional purpose, filtering out 100% of ultra-violet rays while bolstering the car's torsional rigidity.

The crafting of the body in aluminum and the choice of polycarbonate for windows are deliberate moves to minimize weight, amplifying the efficiency that lies at the heart of this EV.

Additionally, Italdesign introduces a new horizontally flipped D-logo, which not only symbolizes a fresh identity but illuminates to integrate with the daytime running light nest, adding a touch of modern elegance.

While the details of the powertrain and technological specifications remain under wraps, Italdesign has shared the dimensions of this electric tribute: a length of 4666 mm, height of 1230 mm, and width of 1945 mm, aligning closely with the dimensions of a BMW Z4.

Stepping inside, a realm of minimalist elegance awaits, with soothing accents gracing the ambiance for the two front passengers.

The thoughtful design extends to double-hinged doors for ease of access in tight spaces, body-contouring coupe-style seats to elevate passenger comfort, and a lowered steering wheel to enhance space and visibility.

Asso di Picche

A dash of nostalgia meets modern sophistication as the dashboard's cylinder design, reminiscent of the original car, now houses an ultra-thin rotating infotainment screen.

As elucidated by Italdesign, the subtle transformations within the cabin aim for a deliberately understated, less conspicuous, and non-intrusive appearance, embodying a serene yet functional aesthetic.

Asso di Picche

Since its inception in 1968, Italdesign has been the creative force behind an array of iconic production and concept cars, including the Alfa Romeo Brera, BMW M1, Lancia Delta, and Maserati MC12. With Asso di Picche in Movimento, the tradition of redefining automotive design continues, marrying historical charm with the electric essence of modern-day mobility.
