Hyundai Should Think About The Kioniq, An Electric SUV Built By An independent Designer

The Ioniq 5 EV's sharp appearance and 800-volt charging technology have been a huge success. The point is that we live in a world dominated by SUVs. And that is where Alexis Poncelet's electric SUV, the Kioniq, comes into play.

The off-roader has the same fuss-free surfacing as the current Ioniq 5 crossover, however, the flanks are much cleaner without the actual car's standard door handles, door mirrors, and diagonal wrinkle. The visor-like aperture between the bonnet and bumper remains intact, while the SUV's LED lights are inspired by the crossover's grid-pattern rear lights.

The segmented frunk is by far the most striking element, with a bank of LEDs below each front door and in the center of the bonnet that appear to reflect the level of charge. The stylish line that divides the two sections of the frunk lid is a hinge element for the butterfly panels, which lift open to expose two separate baggage spaces.

There are no details about the Kioniq's potential powertrain. We're crossing our fingers that Hyundai will reach out to this creative designer and consider including the Kioniq in its lineup.
