Genesis G70 Track Day Special Concept Challenges BMW M3—But Only One Exists

Genesis has finally built a G70 that’s ready to challenge the BMW M3—well, kind of. There’s only one example of this car, and it’s the G70 Track Day Special concept. This car is no ordinary G70.
It’s been purpose-built for track days, featuring a range of high-performance upgrades. Specifically, the Genesis G70 Track Day Special is equipped with KW coilover suspension, tougher axle bearings, and 19-inch OZ Estrema GT wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Plus, it’s got functional hood vents, tow straps, and a massive rear wing, all of which add to its aggressive, track-ready look.

The inspiration for the Track Day Special comes from Genesis’ G70 Nürburgring track taxi, a program launched last year that allows passengers to ride along as the modified G70 tackles the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The concept borrows the same suspension and tire upgrades from those taxis, as well as the eye-catching orange-tinted livery.

As for the engine, it’s likely the Genesis G70 Track Day Special keeps the same 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 as the standard G70, which delivers 365 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque, with power sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Genesis hasn’t confirmed any changes to the drivetrain for this concept, so we’ll assume the heart of the car remains untouched.

The Genesis G70 Track Day Special made its debut last Friday in Markham, Canada, and Genesis plans to tour the car across the country this summer, visiting local dealerships. So if you want to see it up close, keep an eye on upcoming events. While the concept looks ready for production, it’s expected to remain a one-off.
