With its Grandsphere concept, Audi has shown its third and final futuristic concept car, which aims to foretell the future of production cars. To replace the A8, the huge boat-tailed car will have level 4 autonomous driving as its foundation.

This is a follow-up to the Skysphere concept, a two-seater electric roadster with a shape-shifting wheelbase that changed based on the driving mode. Audi Grandsphere concept attempts to reproduce the lounge-like comfort of a first-class ride.

Both the driving system and handling take a backseat, according to Audi, when designing the "Sphere" line of concept cars. The four-rings have concentrated on producing an experience thing rather than a car, therefore the primary focus is the interior and its design.

While the backseats may have been the most sumptuous option classically, Audi Grandsphere concept assures that the car is where any multibillionaire businessman would want to be sitting. The steering wheels and pedals are hidden from view when the Grandsphere is in autonomous mode, transforming the inside into a lounge-like experience.

The construction of a digital environment, in which users are free to access streaming services and read the news, is emphasized heavily. The purpose is to create a satisfying experience that allows you to pick up where you left off with little effort.

Grandsphere is a revolutionary approach to Audi's Multi-Media Interface System, which incorporates eye-tracking to allow motions to be made without having to touch anything. The driver can utilize a rotary ring and buttons near the door cut-out to select various function options. To customize the experience, the automobile will learn the user's preferences and frequently utilized options.

For all-wheel drive, Audi Grandsphere concept is powered by two electric engines, one for each axle. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just over 4 seconds, with no information on maximum speed.

Audi Grandsphere concept holds 120 kWh of energy and, due to the 800V charging system shared with the e-tron GT, can be recharged at fast-charging facilities with 270 kW. In reality, Audi anticipates the Grandpshere to have a range of 750 km (466 miles).

Audi Grandsphere concept
Grandsphere is Audi's latest concept car, and it's meant to be an exploration of what a future A8 successor would look like. "I think the S-Class has been a lot more popular than our A8, so we have to come up with something completely different," says head designer Mark Lichte.
