650-HP Chevy Extreme Off-Roader Has A Shady Reputation

At SEMA last month, Chevrolet Performance debuted something truly remarkable. An off-roader with room for four people, Chevy Beast is built on an altered Silverado 1500 short bed platform. The best part is that it's powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with a total output of 650 hp. Will it, however, go into production?

At least in its current shape, that's improbable. However, we wouldn't rule out the possibility that it will serve as inspiration for something a little more subdued in the future. One thing is clear, however. The "Beast" nameplate will not be utilized. Chevy has omitted the name from the concept completely.

"We were recently approached by an entity objecting to our use of the Beast name," a Chevy representative acknowledged. The Beast concept, which measures 204 inches in length and has a 126.87-inch wheelbase, also has a custom-built tubular safety framework and a lightweight body. It even has a custom-built off-road suspension and five-link rear suspension.

It also has a 91-inch enlarged track for increased overall control when racing across the desert, as well as high stability and agility. A 10-speed automatic gearbox and a two-speed transfer case provide 650 hp to all four wheels. The combination is enhanced with 37-inch off-road tires placed on 20-inch Beadlock wheels, a Big Brake Upgrade System, and a custom grille. Also, there are 4 Recaro seats with four-point harnesses on the inside.
