Zagato Mostro Barchetta Maserati-Powered Made Its Debut Seven Years After The Coupe

The Zagato Mostro was first shown to the public in 2015. The company is back with its open-top companion, the Mostro Barchetta Zagato powered by Maserati, after a seven-year break. The Mostro Barchetta Zagato, like the original Mostro, will be limited to five units. 

The Barchetta resembles the standard Mostro in appearance. In addition to lacking a top, the Barchetta features a new rear deck. The 2022 model has two Maserati-sourced drivetrains to choose from. 

You have the option of a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter V8 with 414 horsepower or a new Biturbo 3.0-liter V6 from the MC20 with 621 horsepower. A six-speed manual sequential gearbox placed on the frontal block delivers power to the rear wheels.

The Mostro Bachetta is built on a MonoCell carbon-fiber platform with a composite windscreen structure and a steel rear subframe. The latter houses the rear suspension, exhaust, and fuel tank. The 19-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in 255/40 R19 front and 295/35 R19 rear rubber. 

Before being sent to its owner, the first of five units was exhibited at Villa d'Este. The remaining four models have been assigned to collector clientele and will be customized. The price is unknown, but based on other limited-run cars designed by Zagato and the uniqueness of the Mostro Barchetta, it will probably be in the seven-figure range.
