YangWang U9: A Chinese Electric Supercar That Costs More Than $145k

The YangWang brand of BYD looks to have made a very impressive car with its battery-powered supercar U9. It features a striking design language called the "Gate of Time and Space," with a low-slung silhouette, aerodynamic components, and eye-catching yellow accents.

The large C-shaped LED headlights and pronounced fenders add to its F1-style appearance, while black elements around the bodywork provide a contrasting duo-tone finish. Additionally, a transparent fin on the rear windshield and blocked inlets below the LED taillights are standout design features of this Chinese supercar.

Reports say that the YangWang U9 supercar can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 2 seconds, which is only 0.1 seconds slower than its competitor, the GAC Aion Hyper SSR. Even though we don't know how much power the U9 has, we do know that its quad motor setup will be based on "Yisifang" technology.

Similarly, the recently unveiled U8 off-roader also has the Yisifang system. What does that mean, tough? Let us explain: the system has four electric motors that each produce between 295 and 322 hp and between 236 and 310 lb-ft of torque, which adds up to more than 1,100 hp.

Given the U9's lighter weight and more aerodynamic design, it's expected to deliver exceptional performance. It's worth noting that the YangWang U9 is not a concept vehicle but a production model, and when it goes on sale in China, it will have a price tag of over ¥1,000,000 ($145,340).
