BYD Yangwang U7 EV Promises 625-Mile Range And 1,300 HP Performance

Yangwang, BYD’s premium sub-brand, has been quietly turning heads this past year. Their U9 supercar grabbed attention with its wild performance and cutting-edge tech, but the brand isn’t just about making headlines. They’re also thinking about luxury cars you could actually use every day, and that’s where the new U7 comes in.
What really makes the BYD Yangwang U7 stand out is the range. The new EV is said to cover up to 625 miles on a single charge with its new 150 kWh battery. There’s also a smaller 135.5 kWh option, which still manages almost 500 miles. That kind of range makes long trips feel way more relaxed and practical than most other EVs in this class.

Yangwang didn’t skimp on the U7’s performance, though. Four motors propel the U7 to nearly 1,300 horsepower. The ride and handling are also quite athletic, thanks to a bunch of suspension tuning and driver assist tech. The larger battery also doesn’t bog down the car, as the U7 still feels nimble and playful to drive.
Yangwang also had a plug-in hybrid version of the U7 in the past. The small flat boxer engine in that car served only to increase range, not speed. It was a neat and practical solution, and this all-electric version is building upon it. You get serious power and comfort without having to worry about practicality on a daily level.

Chinese luxury EVs aren’t here to play catch-up anymore. Yangwang is showing that you don’t have to compromise between performance, comfort, and range. The U7 feels like a car you’d happily drive every day, yet still makes your pulse race when you push it.
