An electric flying car and a robotic pony are just two of the innovations unveiled by XPeng on its 1024 Tech Day. HT Aero, an XPeng'x Urban Air Mobility affiliate, built the first flying automobile.

The business didn't go into much detail but stated the model was designed in-house and has several safety mechanisms, as well as a compact size and a folding rotor system. Two gullwing doors open when the automobile is parked, allowing the rotors to swing into position. The car can then take off and land vertically because the blades lengthen.

Featuring an aerodynamic shape and partially hidden rear wheels, the model looks like a dystopian supercar. Dash-mounted digital display and transparent infotainment system complete the high-tech cabin. A central divider and unusual flying controls are also visible.

XPeng claims that a roll-out will begin in 2024, despite the model's seeming absurdity. They also mentioned that it will be road-capable, which implies that it will be street-legal. XPeng also used the opportunity to announce intentions to launch XPilot 3.5 early next year. "First mass-produced quadruple perception fusion solution, with dual-camera-vision coverage, LiDAR, and millimeter-wave radar sensors," it says. They will allow cars to view in 3D, recognize, categorize, and locate items in their environment.

The Tesla rival also revealed plans for China's first 800V high-voltage mass-production SiC platform, with new-generation X-Power superchargers capable of charging for a range of up to 200 km (124 miles) in just 5 minutes, according to the company. In terms of the latter, all vehicles will be equipped with 480 kW superchargers for rapid charging.

Finally, XPeng unveiled a working prototype of a robotic pony. Face, body, and voiceprint sensors allow it to distinguish many users. Also, the pony can walk because of 3D route planning and cutting-edge limbs.
