Would You Drive An Electric Humble One SUV With a Solar Roof?

Once upon a time, there was a man who dreamed of driving a solar-powered automobile. First attempts were very short ranges and no one believed it would be possible to drive one in a city someday. Sixty-six years later, William G. Cobb's concept demonstration turned into a real SUV with a solar roof - Humble One SUV.

Humble Motors focused its attention on building "the world's first solar-powered SUV.", which states that this is possible now and a logical continuation of an all-electric vehicle. The Californian-based startup was founded in 2020 and just a year later they announced their idea of an electric SUV with a solar-roof with a 500 miles range. A perfect vehicle for California, right?

According to Humble Motors, the SUV will have 82.35 square feet of highly efficient solar cells on both roofs and windows, allowing the vehicle to reach up to 60 miles (97 km) per day. But as we're accustomed to already, the SUV will be available in AC and DC charging options.

Humble One efficiency is ensured by replacing the regular roof with photovoltaic cells, and the manufacturer tried to show an SUV with a lightweight and aerodynamic shape. Those who want a place in line to drive such an innovative SUV can pay a refundable and non-binding reservation of $300. Production is scheduled to start in 2024, with the deliveries planned for 2025.

The price for the Humble One could start at $109,000 for the base option excluding taxes. The price is much higher than other popular EV brands, but who else gives solar-powered electric vehicles?

According to their latest statement, Humble Motors is popular for giving a fresh and unique niche in the automotive market. They already have $20 million in reserved pre-orders, while the US reservation increased by 426% last month.

Alex Bogicevic, Humble's Engineering leas, and former executive for Ford are very optimistic about Humble One's future because when compared to other EV automakers, his company's sales grew up by 414%.
