Would You Choose Totem's Alfa Romeo Giulia GT Electric Or Its 612 HP ICE Sibling?

Even though we've seen several stunning restomods recently, Automobili Totem's carbon fiber-bodied, battery-powered Alfa Romeo Giulia coupe set the bar early in the year. The 518-hp, $500,000 Alfa Romeo Giulia GT electric now has an ICE-powered sibling to contend with. The Totem GT Super replaces the electric motor with a 612-hp twin-turbo V6 engine.

The engine comes from a Giulia GTA sedan and comes in a variety of tunes to go above and beyond the original car's 533-hp. In the ordinary configuration, the Super delivers 552-hp, while the Stage 2 version produces 567-hp, and the Stage 3 version generates 612-hp. An automated ZF transmission sends power to the rear wheels.

Alfa Romeo Giulia GT electric is said to reach 62 mph in 2.9 seconds, whereas the ICE version is said to take 3.2 seconds. Why when they're both RWD? With 693 lb-ft of immediate torque, the electric car is quick. But even with Totem's tweaking, the EV still outmuscles the Giulia GTA's 533-hp V6.

This automobile is 331 lbs (150 kg) less than the ICE-powered variant, weighing 2513 lbs (1140 kg). It'll be the musically inclined. You may hear the GT electric's sound generator on Totem's website. In that regard, Alfa's twin-turbo V6 isn't quite as tuneful as an ancient Busso V6.

Totem claims that except for the powerplant, the GT Super is identical to the EV. For this car, Totem added carbon fiber body panels and strengthened the chassis of an Alfa 1300/1600 GT Junior coupe. In addition to the magnificent nine-pad carbon bucket seats, you can pick for less flashy but more comfortable road-oriented sports seats, which are available in two colors: black and white. The Super moniker is a throwback to the Giulia Ti Super of the 1960s.

However, Totem only builds 20 of each car. In terms of price, Alfa Romeo Giulia GT electric is €430,000 and the GT Super is €460,000. To complete the restomod package, the Alfaholics GTA-R 290 is also worthy of consideration. Which one do you prefer?
