Five years ago, Brabham Automotive unveiled the BT62 track-only supercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Unfortunately, production was hindered by the pandemic. Now, Brabham Automotive, owned by David Brabham, a Formula 1 racing and Le Mans-winning driver, is eager to make a comeback and resume production.

David Brabham, whose racing pedigree runs deep, drove the McLaren F1 GTR to victory in the 1996 All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship, and his father, Jack Brabham, was a three-time Formula 1 World Champion.

The BT62 supercar, introduced in 2018, was designed to set blistering lap times, featuring a 5.4-liter V8 engine delivering 700 horsepower and 492 lb-ft of torque. With a dry weight of just 2,142 lbs, it boasted an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 720 hp per ton and produced a staggering 2,646 lbs of downforce!

Following high demand, the BT62 Competition was introduced in 2019, and in 2020, the road-legal BT62R was unveiled as a McLaren Senna rival, equipped with the same 700-hp V8 engine but with a quieter exhaust and a more comfortable cabin. While Brabham has hinted at a reboot, the specific details remain undisclosed as they are still being discussed internally.

However, enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the brand's return to production, expected later this year. David Brabham remains tight-lipped about the exact plans, stating that he will announce further developments when the time is right.
