Why RAV4 Mountain Rescue Didn't Make It To The 2021 Tokyo Auto Salon?

Imagine working years on a concept and not being able to present it at an official show event. This exact situation happened to Toyota's subsidiary when they decided to unveil the RAV4 concept at the 2021 Toyota Auto Salon. The planned event got canceled due to the pandemic. 

Named the "Mountain Rescue", the SUV was rescheduled to be shown at an SUV exhibition in Japan. The place wasn't randomly chosen since Toyama Prefecture is a mountainous area on the west coast of Japan. The perfect spot for introducing a Mountain Rescue concept for the snowy winter - the safest friendship between mountains, snow, and SUV. What better way to prove its main purpose?

Inspired and built upon the 2020 RAV4 "Adventure Gear" concept, but it has lights and exciting graphics, the SUV features inscriptions like "Mountain Rescue" and "Battalion Chief" written on its side. It also got big chunky tires, a variety of gadgets for safer trips on the snowy mountains.

Also, RAV4 Mountain Rescue SUV features a range of tools, speakers, flashlights, cameras, and LiDAR. They're all removable from the car to aid the crew in completing their tasks. Supplementary, the SUV has equipment for rescue workers - helmets, climbing ropes, and what looks like a sled people with injuries out of dangerous situations. As a bonus, there's the augmented reality function to assist the driver in bad weather.
