When Kia announced plans to give up on its Cadenza and K900 models sold in the American market the main reason for such a drastic decision was the poor demands. Here comes the good news from Kia this year – the manufacturer decided to update the international all-new K8 flagship car is also getting an update for specific markets. Well, it’s more of a mid-cycle revision if we may compare it to a next-gen model launch consisting usually insignificant visual changes.

The South Korean automaker designed its K9 as a full-sized posh sedan. The two released official images offer a rather redesigned vehicle with flattered headlights, enlarged front grille featuring chrome "V" logos which wisely extends towards the lights, bumper, and air ducts placed on the corners. Meantime, the rear end was enhanced with a KDM-spec K9 facelift featuring a full-width LED light bar. Here, the license plate was moved from the trunk lid to the bumper.

Of course, the Kia team thought offering new 19-inch alloy wheels with an updated corporate badge round off the exterior changes. For the interior, the automaker hasn’t revealed interior is also expected to go through a series of changes. Despite being a usual marketing tactic to not maintain short life cycles for its flagships because they must always be ahead of its German brands' competitors on the automotive market.

It’ll be a fortunate pleasure to meet the updated large Kia K9 and everyone is curious about under what name would the updated flagship, knowing that other markets got the same version under the naming of K900 or Quoris. More details should be revealed in the next weeks along with its technical specs. So far, it's unconfirmed that the 4x badge might suggest an all-wheel-drive system for the updated vehicle.

Kia is still fond of developing its sedan segment and by investing in great facelifts and next-gen model developments it’s still wondering if they will be able to compete against the new crossovers and SUVs trend on the international market. This time we can proudly compare the updated K9 to Hyundai’s revised Grandeur sedan which amazed the home market and is planned to launch in 2022.
