Volvo XC90 Gets Subtle Upgrades: New Tech And Improved Fuel Economy

Volvo has made subtle but noticeable upgrades to the XC90 SUV's economy and interior technology. The XC90's redesigned LED headlights and new grille pattern give it a hint of freshness while still maintaining its sleek appearance.

Volvo has upgraded the interior with improved materials and a larger, more intuitive 11.2-inch touchscreen, among other changes.

There have been no notable modifications to the hybrid vehicles. The T8 plug-in hybrid retains its 449-horsepower hybrid design, thanks to its gas engine and electric motor and its 44-mile all-electric range. Newer versions from rivals like the Range Rover and Volkswagen Tiguan can achieve about 70 miles, so this is a little short. Even the previous generation of the Audi Q7 plug-in hybrid offers a greater electric range of 52 miles.

Furthermore, Volvo has improved its mild hybrid options. The B5 and B6 variants now offer better fuel efficiency thanks to engine improvements. They have improved the suspension and installed soundproofing to make the XC90 a more relaxing and quiet vehicle. Overall, the updates to the XC90 are understated but thoughtful, keeping the SUV modern by emphasizing comfort and quality rather than chasing trends.
