Volkswagen Teases European-Spec Tayron Ahead Of October 10 Debut

Volkswagen has just dropped a teaser for the European-spec Tayron, set to debut on October 10, and it looks like it’s going to be a big deal. For those in North America, this same vehicle will be known as the 2025 Tiguan, and it’s shaping up to be a serious upgrade from the current model.

So, what’s new? Well, the VW Tayron is going to be bigger and more spacious than the European Tiguan, effectively replacing the Tiguan Allspace. Interestingly, VW is positioning the Tayron as a "sophisticated all-rounder."

The teaser video gives us a sneak peek at the rear of the Tayron, and it’s clear VW is going for a modern, high-tech look. The SUV will have animated LED taillights that stretch across the back, as well as an illuminated VW logo—definitely eye-catching.

The Chinese version measures 4,684 mm (184.4 inches) in length, which makes it about 5 inches longer than the European Tiguan but slightly shorter than the Chinese Tiguan L.

It’s not yet confirmed whether the European Tayron will be exactly the same size, but it’s safe to say it’ll be larger than what we’ve seen before—perfect for those looking for a roomier ride. VW's MQB Evo platform, which supports models like the Tiguan and Passat, serves as the foundation for the Tayron's construction.

When it comes to powertrains, the European VW Tayron will likely go the electrified route. Expect to see options like mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid systems, and maybe even traditional gasoline and diesel engines.

VW’s most powerful plug-in hybrid system offers up 268 hp and 62 miles of electric range, so that’s probably in the cards for this model too. It’ll also be intriguing to see if the US-spec Tiguan debuts around the same time, giving us a better idea of how the Tayron’s features will translate for North American drivers.

One thing’s for sure, though: the Tayron is looking like a solid mix of modern tech, practicality, and excellent old VW engineering.
