Due to the preference of Chinese consumers for sedans, Volkswagen is gearing up to launch a four-door Passat Pro in China, expanding its portfolio.

Photos released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology clearly disclose the next model's design and characteristics, even though it has not yet made its official appearance. On the tailgate of this four-door Passat, you can see the "Pro" logo in Chinese.

Its bumper intake and ID-style headlamps give it a distinctive appearance, and it shares many body components with the Passat Variant in Europe. The European Union's specifications inspire both the regular and sportier-looking R-Line trims.

The Passat's alloy wheels may be 17 inches, 18 inches, or even 19 inches in diameter, depending on the model. The full-width taillight clusters adorned with distinctive LED graphics are located at the back of the car. Meanwhile, the back bumper features ornamental inlets and reflectors. The most recent mid-size car from Volkswagen has the following dimensions: length 197.1 inches, width 72.8 inches, and height 58.6 inches.

Volkswagen Passat Pro For comparison, the Passat Variant is 3.5 inches longer, while the mechanically identical Skoda Superb liftback is 3.7 inches longer. In comparison to those variants, the Passat Pro has a larger wheelbase at 113 inches, an increase of 1.2 inches. The Volkswagen Passat sedan's interior design remains a mystery for now.

Higher-end versions are likely to include the latest convenience and safety features, along with a 12.9-inch standalone infotainment display with Chinese-specific software. The Chinese MQB-based sedan only comes with two non-electric gasoline engines, unlike the Passat Variant sold in the European Union, which provides a variety of powertrains including gasoline, diesel mild-hybrid, and plug-in hybrid.

The base 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 158 horsepower, while the top-of-the-line 2.0-liter turbo engine can generate 217 horsepower. In the third quarter of 2024, Chinese dealerships will welcome the redesigned Volkswagen Passat Pro.
