Car collectors are constantly purchasing cars that are unique, in limited editions, or are just a fan of a certain brand. Selling them might be in order to gain profit or to generously donate to a charity. Carrol Shelby's car was auctioned the crown jewel of his collection and donate the proceeds to charity.

The auction happened at the Barret-Jackson Scottsdale auction on March 27 and the winner ended up paying $5.5 Million for this extravagant Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake CSX 3015. How could a Shelby Cobra get such a heavy price? It isn't just that the CSX 3015 is one of the most fabulous and extreme factory-built Shelby Cobra, but it's also the only one surviving Cobra 427 Super Snake assembled by Shelby American.

Just so you know, the other example nicknamed CSX 3303, ended up tragically driven off a cliff into the Pacific Ocean and resulted in the driver's death.  So, this lovely Cobra 427 remained the only one in the world.  The normal 427-cubic-inch V8, equipped with two Paxton superchargers in Super Snake specifications, makes this example the ultimate Cobra. Also, the engine is coupled to a three-speed automatic transmission.

The history of the CSX 3013's life started in 1965 when 23 units were getting out of production as 427 competition models and tuned into these extreme Super Snake vehicles two years later. The only original parts of the 427 were the engine block, body panels, brake calipers, rear end, and its original exhaust system.

This particular Shelby was auctioned before, sold for $5.5 million in 2007, for $5.1 million in 2015, and yesterday at the event organized by the Barret-Jackson auction was sold to the winning bidder for $5 million. See you at the next auction!
